Locality in West Darfur faces Food Shortage

People in Jebel Moan locality in West Darfur state have been complaining of food scarcity due to the failure of this year’s agricultural season.

The leader of the Native Administration in the locality, Hafez Al-Sheikh, said that agricultural pests contributed to the failure of the agricultural season and the locality faces food scarcity.

On Wednesday, residents of Jabal Moan locality received the governor of West Darfur, Al-Tijani Al-Tahir Karshoum, as part of his tours of the localities to check out the conditions of the citizens.

Hafez said that the Jabal Moan locality had recently received large numbers of displaced people from Geneina and Sirba, and stressed that they were in dire need of humanitarian aid.

He pointed out that there were no health service in the entire locality, in addition to the scarcity of drinking water, as the result of the drying of most water sources because rains were scarce this season this year, in addition to the lack of regular maintenance of pumps
