Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The servers of the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) – the official Sudanese news agency, an independent public body with its headquarters in Khartoum State, were subjected to a cyber attack on Monday morning, which led to the cessation of service.

Internet browsers were surprised when the agency’s website crashed, with a picture of the hackers who carried out the operation written on it: “It was hacked by the Cyber Dragons 8 team.”

A cyber-attack is defined as a new type of “electronic attack,” that is, a type of offensive maneuver that targets computer information systems, infrastructure, computer networks, or personal computers. It is a process that attempts to access data, functions, or other prohibited areas of the system without obtaining permission. So, it is possible that this was done with malicious intent. Depending on the context, cyber-attacks can be part of cyber warfare or cyber terrorism.

The electronic attack can be used by sovereign states, individuals, groups, society, organizations, or even gangs, and these electronic (cyber) attacks may originate from an unknown source.
