Expert: Re-printing New Denomination, be Reconsidered

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The former Secretary-General of the Taxation Chamber, an expert in financial management, Ahmed Adam Salem, downplayed the feasibility of printing a new edition of the thousand-pound denomination bearing the signature of the current Governor of the Bank of Sudan, Bura’i Siddiq Ali, instead of the former Governor, Hussein Yahya Janqoul.
He said in his statement to (Sudan Events) that the best decision was to change the currency, whatever be cost, taking into account the current war situation including the plundering, looting, attacks on banks and shops, of huge sums of cash that have become in the hands of thieves, and then work on printing hundred, fifty and twenty pound denominations as well as reducing the printing of five-hundred-pound denomination and restricting their circulation. He suggested not to print the thousand-pound denomination and work to withdraw them from circulation in the market.
He criticized the Bank of Sudan for engaging in printing a thousand-pound denomination in these circumstances and considered it an encouragement to plunder and infringement on citizens’ money and property
