Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, was crowned the best scorer in Europe for the year 2023, awarded to him by the International Federation of History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Ronaldo topped the list of top scorers in 2023, surpassing the duo Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, the strikers of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
According to the International Federation of History and Statistics, “Ronaldo scored 54 goals in 59 matches, enabling him to achieve his best goal tally in one year, since 2017, when he was a player for Spanish Real Madrid, and then scored 53 goals.”
Ronaldo surpassed Mbappe (52 goals in 53 matches), as well as English player Harry Kane, Bayern Munich player, who scored (52 goals in 57 matches), and Norwegian Erling Haaland, who scored (50 goals in 60 matches).
Ronaldo, 38, joined Al-Nassr last January, on a free transfer, after terminating his contract with Manchester United.
Ronaldo has previously won the Ballon d’Or for Best Player in the World 5 times, most recently in 2017, and he has also won THE BEST Award for Best Player in the World 3 times, most recently also in 2017.
At the Saudi League level, Ronaldo tops the scorers’ standings with 19 goals, and is 3 goals ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic, the Saudi Al Hilal striker.
