The Bank of Khartoum management placed 1,215 bank employees on leave without pay, representing about 45% of the workforce.
The management of the Bank of Khartoum had placed the option of dismissal based on performance evaluation among three options to deal with the fate of the bank’s employees, who number about (3) thousand workers; Distributed among (125) branches of the most widespread bank in the country.
According to the bank manager’s statement: Lamia Satti told “Darfur 24” that the administration was able to avoid implementing the dismissal mechanism based on performance evaluation and replaced it with open leaves.
The administration retained 1,594 employees covering the service in all the bank’s branches, while a very limited number submitted resignations.
According to a previous statement from the bank’s management, the bank’s losses – inventoried so far – amounted to one hundred million dollars.
The bank branches in Khartoum were subjected to unprecedented looting with the outbreak of war on April 15.
A study by the American Food Policy Institute expected the loss of 5.2 million jobs in the country due to the war, which is nearly half of the country’s workforce, based on losses in the industrial, service and agricultural sectors.
