UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin announced his position on running for another term as UEFA president in 2027.
“I will not run again in 2027,” Ceferin said during his speech at the Federation’s General Assembly (Congress) meeting on Thursday.
This comes despite the members of the UEFA General Assembly voting in favor of amending the statute, which will allow current president Ceferin to remain in office for an additional 4 years.
This means that Ceferin, who has headed the federation since 2016, will be able to run in the elections in 2027, when his current term ends, but he announced his refusal to do so.
Previously, UEFA›s statutes stipulated a maximum term of three terms.
