The militia commander Declares  Famine in the Areas Controlled by his Forces

Militia commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Thursday) sent an urgent appeal to the international community regarding the humanitarian situation in Sudan, announcing the start of  famine in some areas of Sudan.

He pointed to the accelerating deterioration and food insecurity in the areas under the control of his forces in Khartoum, Kordofan, Darfur and Gezira , which he said was Reached level 4 (emergency level) “IPC-Phase 4”.

He also called for urgent intervention from all regional and international relief organizations and agencies.

By implementing a program similar to the “Lifeline” program, which was implemented under an agreement signed in 1989 between UNICEF, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement,SPLM and the government of Sudan during the era of the third democracy.
