Challenges of agricultural development on the table of the Arab League

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development participated in the discussion symposium via Zoom technology on “The Role of the League of Arab States and its Organizations and Unions in Facing the Challenges of Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Arab World,” organized by the Union of Arab Agricultural Engineers.
The Union of Arab Agricultural Engineers stressed the importance of addressing the challenges facing Arab agricultural development, stressing the necessity of activating Arab agricultural integration in accordance with comparative advantage.
The recommendations of the symposium organized by the Union stressed the need to encourage intra-Arab trade, exemption from taxes and customs, and support the agricultural sector in the least developed countries with in-kind agricultural supplies, in addition to holding periodic meetings for Arab ministers of agriculture, water, industry and trade to agree on solving challenges and the necessity of supporting programs and the future of security. Arab Food, in addition to using the Arab platform to display Arab agricultural products available from the Arab Union for the Digital Economy, and the necessity of developing agricultural production by shifting to smart agriculture and introducing widespread technology and the Internet of Things.
Among us, Ahmed Khair Abdel Qader, former Director of the Organizations and Unions Department at the League of Arab States, emphasized the pivotal role of the Arab League in activating joint Arab action and maximizing the role of its institutions and civil society institutions working to achieve sustainable development goals, praising the role played by the Arab organizations, unions and bodies affiliated with the League, praising the role of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in supporting sustainable development in the Arab world and the development that has occurred in the Sustainable Arab Agricultural Development Strategy 2020-2030, in addition to the organization’s major role in the Arab Program for Sustaining Food Security and assigning the General Secretariat in the League of Arab States, the organization prepares a periodic report on Arab food security.
