85 illegal bakeries were seized in Blue Nile

The Blue Nile Region Consumer Affairs Committee’s inspection campaign resulted in the seizure of 85 bakeries violating manufacturing and health practices and bread weight violations, out of a total of 140 bakeries in the cities of Roseires and Damazin.
The committee stressed the importance of periodically reviewing the violating bakeries and submitting them to judicial authorities in the event of repeated violations.
The Chairman of the Committee, Abbas Abdullah Bello, announced the intensification of supervisory work for goods and services, especially smuggled goods from Ethiopia and South Sudan, in order to ensure the safety of consumers in the region.
Dr. Al-Amin Al-Tayeb, Director of the Standards and Metrology Branch in the Region, rapporteur of the committee and the technical officer from the consumer protection teams to implement the 2024 plan to preserve the health of consumers and the environment, stressing that consumer protection is everyone’s responsibility, reiterating their continued implementation according to the specified timetable.
The Consumer Affairs Committee in the Blue Nile Region held its second meeting in the office of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to discuss the plan for the year 2024 under the title of contributing to environmental sanitation, raising consumer awareness and food safety, including a number of activities including (awareness programmes, exhibitions, forums, workshops, social responsibility programmes). Specialized inspection campaigns and programs to introduce consumer rights.
