Expectations of an increase in the trade exchange between Egypt and Sudan

Sudan Events – Nahed Oshi

The economic expert, Dr. Muhammad Al-Nayer, expected that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Sudan would exceed more than a billion dollars. He said in his interview with (Al-Ahdath) that before the outbreak of war, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached a billion dollars, and under the current circumstances I expect it to have exceeded this rate, considering that many basic and necessary goods come from the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as some goods from Sudan are exported to Egypt. These are among the basic files that are being discussed between the governments of the two countries to increase the volume of trade exchange and economic relations in a fundamental way, in addition to the issues of Sudanese residing in Egypt and addressing their problems as well as reducing the burden on them in terms of fees, residence and education. Also, he stated that Al-Burhan’s recent visit to Cairo has strategic dimensions that would ease the pressure on the Sudanese in Egypt. In light of the current war conditions, the operation of the Red Sea ports with full efficiency in terms of import and export, along with the operation of the Erqin and Ashkit crossings, played a major role in the availability of goods during the war, and creating resources in the country contributed significantly.
Regarding the economic file, Dr. Al-Nayer praised Egypt’s strong and effective role in rebuilding Sudan after the end of the war, indicating that there are great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the next stage, increasing the volume of investments, increasing the volume of trade exchange, and greatly facilitating procedures.
