Former Director of the Sudanese Customs Authority, Salah Al-Sheikh, proposed raising direct taxes, to increase state revenues, which decreased by 80% due to the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia.
He pointed out in his speech to (Al-Ahdath) that the performance of taxes has been weak for quite some time and is not equivalent to what is required of them in peacetime, pointing out the importance of taxes working better, stressing the possibility of improving the performance of customs at the ports and the airport, and stressing the importance of closing evasion outlets and expanding the umbrella, In addition to using a reasonable exchange rate, in addition to working to use export revenues and recover them sooner, he stressed the need to reduce government spending to reduce pressure on revenues.
