The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization in the Blue Nile Region registered 65 bakeries that violated the weights according to the Sudanese standard.
Director of the authority’s branch in the Blue Nile, Al-Amin Al-Tayeb, said that previously the prevailing weight of small bread was 60 grams, medium bread was 80 grams, and large bread was a minimum of 120 grams, but this was canceled according to a local decision by the Economic Committee after all parties agreed that the weight should be between “40 and 50 grams” in order to provide stability in service provision, and to oblige all regulatory authorities to implement the decision.
Noting that the localities of Al-Damazin and Al-Rusairs witnessed intensive inspection campaigns on bakeries, as 140 bakeries were inspected, including “108 in Al-Damazin and 32 in Al-Rusairs” according to health requirements and their standard weights, and “65” violations of weights according to the Sudanese standard were recorded in the bakeries.
