The Director of the Department of Agriculture in Dongola Locality, Ammar Abdul Qadir, warned against delaying the wheat harvest.
He said during a meeting of the local Higher Harvest Committee, headed by the Acting Executive Director of Dongola Locality, Al-Nur Ali Al-Nour, that most of this year’s wheat crop is of a variety that cannot tolerate delaying the harvest, so the committee began seeking to provide harvesters.
He confirmed the availability of 58 harvesters at the local level, adding that the committee set the value of the harvest per acre between 40 to 50 thousand pounds, and indicated that his administration would provide gasoline for the harvest.
For his part, Director of the Agricultural Bank, Dongola Branch, Adel Muhammad Ibrahim, reassured the farmers that the plastic bags will arrive at the Agricultural Bank branches during the wheat harvest period, stressing that the Agricultural Bank is working with the relevant authorities to provide the bags.
