River Nile Governor: Harvesting Wheat will Enhance Food Security

The Acting Governor of the River Nile State, Dr. Mohammad Al-Badawi Abdul Majid, has stated that the high productivity achieved by wheat in the River Nile and in Shendi locality is a major step to enhance food security in the state.
He added, during the inauguration of the wheat harvest (Tuesday) in the Al-Musikatab area, north of Shendi, that the project area covers 1,050 fedans that were reclaimed for the first time, and that the productivity of an fedan in it reached 15 sacks. He called for increasing the area to reach ten thousand fedans, and indicated that River Nile State can achieve sufficiency of wheat and covers the consumption of the rest of the states of Sudan. The governor expressed his complete satisfaction with everything that was accomplished during the agricultural season in all localities.
The governor praised the Ministry of Production and the Department of Agriculture in Shendi.
The governor stressed that agricultural industrialization is the first step in reducing waste, and called for expansion in this direction.
When he opened the onion drying plant in the Tarajma area, he said that agricultural industrialization can accommodate the largest number of young people and improve the income level of families.
