Decline in exports of gum arabic

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The head of the Gum Arabic Exporters Division, Ahmed Al-Anan, clearly reported a decline in the gum export, but he refrained from mentioning numbers.
In an interview with Al-Ahdath, Ahmed Al-Anan attributed the decline in exports to several reasons, including weak production for this year due to the lack of security in the production areas and the difficulty of removing goods from the production areas to the markets, in addition to the massive increase in cases of smuggling of gum via the bear to Egypt, Chad, Central Africa, South Sudan, Abyssinia and Eritrea, in addition to the lack of financial capacity of export companies and the lack of bank financing, and also the bank ban that was recently imposed on companies exporting gum arabic by the Central Bank of Sudan.
