Revealing Secret Talks Between Britain and the Rapid Support Militia

Sudan Events – Agencies

The Guardian newspaper has revealed that the British Foreign Office engaged in secret talks with the Rapid Support.
It referred to a meeting that took place between officials from the Ministry of Defense and Security and representatives of the Rapid Support Forces on March 6.
The British Foreign Office said the talks were an attempt to increase access to humanitarian aid and end the fighting against the Sudanese Armed Forces.
In addition, British human rights groups have issued warnings that such talks risk legitimizing the notorious militia that continues to commit multiple war crimes while undermining Britain’s moral credibility in the region.
Maddie Crowther, co-director of the human rights organization, said: “I am shocked. This seems like a terrible move for the Sudanese. It would be a real slap in the face. There will be absolute shock and a real feeling of complete let down by the UK government.”
