An international organization prepares to include Sudan in the “Hand by Hand” initiative

Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, confirmed that the aid provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in light of the war conditions that Sudan is witnessing, played a role in achieving production rates that removed Sudan from the specter of famine.

During his meeting with the Director-General of the FAO, Qu Dongyu, on the sidelines of his participation in the 33rd session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa, the Minister praised the cooperation that links the Sudanese government with the FAO, stressing that Sudan looks forward to continued support for the success of the agricultural season for the current year. The Minister expressed Sudan’s desire to benefiting from the organization’s new direction of shifting from relief to development by providing production inputs to small farmers.

For his part, the Director-General of the FAO affirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Sudan, noting that Sudan is the second country to receive direct aid to farmers, stressing their readiness to include Sudan among the countries benefiting from the organization’s new direction and benefiting from the (Hand by Hand) initiative.
