Transforming Atbara Airport into an International Airport

The Atbara Airport Support, Development and Rehabilitation Committee has confirmed that the construction operations taking place at Atbara Airport represent the transformation of the airport into an international airport that meets the needs of the state and the country in the areas of transporting goods and passengers.
During its meeting (Thursday), headed by Engineer Salah Ali Karkba, Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Chairman of the Committee, and with the participation of Engineer Samir Saeed, Minister of Infrastructure, Osman Ahmed Osman, Secretary General of the Government, Abdul Raouf Hassan, Executive Director of Atbara Locality, and all members of the Committee, the Committee stressed the need for the participation of the localities, companies, banks, and men. Businesses, chambers of commerce, airline companies in the country to carry out work in accordance with international specifications for international airports.
The committee called for intensifying media work to achieve all the desired goals to develop the airport in a way that qualifies it to receive all forms of aviation. The committee confirmed that work is progressing well on the main runway and the ancillary facilities required for the establishment of Atbara International Airport.
