Petroleum Minister: Sudan has Large Oil Reserves

The Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohieddin Naeem, has said that Sudan has a large oil reserve in the north, indicating that the major challenge facing the business now is cooperation with old or new players everywhere, stressing that there are no political problems with any country.
Revealing the existence of potential gas fields in the Red Sea, he confirmed during his speech at the special meeting of the World Economic Forum on (Global Cooperation, Growth, and Energy for Development), which was held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that electricity stations are being converted to take greater advantage of this source.
The merger of the Ministries of Energy and Minerals aims to benefit from the country’s gold resources.
The minister explained that Sudan has only exploited 20% of its known oil reserves to generate energy, pointing out that the government is striving to maximize production due to high demand.
He stressed that the sector now meets 40% of the country’s energy needs, noting that there are initiatives in the field of solar, thermal, and wind energy to generate electricity.
He attributed the merging of the Ministries of Energy and Minerals to benefit from the country’s gold resources.
