The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Borai Al-Siddiq, has acknowledged that Sudan was lagging behind in paying the dues of the previous deposit from the State of Algeria.
In a joint meeting with the Algerian Minister of Finance on the sidelines of the meetings of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, he appreciated Algeria’s patience with Sudan’s delay in paying the deposit, expressing his aspiration to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
Borai Al-Siddiq revealed that an agreement had been reached earlier regarding the supply of meat from Sudan and the formulation of a partnership for the stages of production and export of meat to Europe, indicating that this came after the visit of the Sudanese President to Algeria, and holding a meeting with the Algerian Red Meat Company.
Borai Al-Siddiq stressed the need to strengthen economic relations between the two countries, including investment in sectors such as mining and minerals and the establishment of a copper refinery, in addition to granting licenses to Algerian banks to open branches in Sudan to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries.
