Revenue Increases by 600%

The Minister of Trade and Supply, Al-Fatih Abdullah, has revealed that the percentage of revenues increased by more than 600% of revenues during the period from February of last year until the end of April of the current year.
He attributed this to the Ministry’s following policies that govern import and export operations, in addition to taking strict measures, which made the Ministry of Trade and Supply one of the most important revenue ministries for the state treasury.
He stressed the Ministry of Trade’s keenness to follow up on the controls and policies it sets through the Import and Export Control Committee, which was formed by Resolution No. 17 of 2024 issued by the President of the Sovereign Council.
He said that the Ministry is keen to rationalize imports for the benefit of strategic goods, adding that rationalizing imports has a positive role in rationalizing foreign exchange and bridging the gap in the trade balance.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Trade works in accordance with controls that govern import operations and control exports.
He explained that trade gave top priority in this period to expand and open new and promising markets through partnerships with various parties, stressing that anyone who practices commercial importation must be registered in the register of exporters and importers and must have a valid registration certificate.
He stated that there is movement regarding border trade between the border states and neighboring countries to maximize the economic, social and security benefits.
The Minister of Trade noted that his ministry works according to the trade facilitation approach with all relevant and known parties, indicating that the ministry is considered the main umbrella for trade balance operations.
He added that the most important competencies of his ministry are to carry out foreign and internal trade operations in accordance with the Trade Law of 2009.
