Sudan Events – Follow-ups

A declaration signed in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, by Abdalla Hamdouk and the head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour, concluded with a call for the establishment of a secular, non-aligned state.
The Nairobi Declaration granted the Sudanese peoples the right to self-determination if the principles of the Nairobi Declaration were not included in the permanent constitution.
The declaration called for the establishment of a new military and security system in accordance with internationally agreed upon standards that would lead to a single professional and national army.
The declaration urged the holding of a round table in which all national forces that believe in the principles contained in the declaration participate.
