Director of the Department of Trade and Supply, Chairman of the committee responsible for issuing and licensing consumer and essential commodities in Kassala State, Ahmed Mohammad Adam, has confirmed that monitoring and issuing permits for consumer goods inside and outside the state and its various localities, in addition to monitoring the quantities of strategic stock in the state and following up the movement of strategic goods are among the priorities of the committee’s tasks.
Meanwhile the members of the committee stressed during the first meeting the need to focus on flour, sorghum and sugar commodities as they are among the strategic commodities available in the state, in addition to monitoring their movement and counting the available quantities of them.
We believe in the importance of determining the controls through which the committee can issue permits, provided that the locality determines the actual need for strategic goods and submits them to the Department of Trade and Supply according to the need so that permits can be extracted in the presence of all relevant parties, including members of the committee and representatives of the security and military services, whose tasks come in monitoring and following up the movement of goods. The strategy extends beyond local and state borders. During the meeting, the Public Prosecution was added to the committee to play its role in drafting the laws and regulations that regulate the movement of goods and defining procedures and regulations in a unified law to facilitate, monitor and follow up the procedures for the movement of goods.
