Egypt to Host a Conference of Sudanese Political Forces

Egypt has announced that it will host a conference for all Sudanese civil political forces, at the end of next June, in the presence of relevant regional and international partners.
The step comes within the framework of Egypt’s keenness to make all possible efforts to help Sudan overcome the crisis it is going through, and to address its serious repercussions on the Sudanese people and the security and stability of the region, especially Sudan’s neighboring countries.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, “based on the fraternal and deep historical and social ties that link the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples.” Based on Egypt’s commitment to support all efforts to achieve peace and stability in Sudan, at the end of June 2024, the Arab Republic of Egypt will host a conference that includes all Sudanese civil political forces, in the presence of relevant regional and international partners, with the aim of reaching consensus between the various Sudanese civil political forces on ways to build comprehensive and permanent peace in Sudan, through a Sudanese-Sudanese national dialogue, based on a purely Sudanese vision.”
The Ministry added: “The Egyptian call comes from a firm belief that the current conflict in Sudan is primarily a Sudanese issue, and that any future political process should include all active national parties on the Sudanese scene, and within the framework of respect for the principles of Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and non-interference in its interior affairs and preserving the state and its institutions.” Egypt is organizing this conference to complement its ongoing efforts and endeavors to stop the ongoing war in Sudan, and within a framework of cooperation and integration with the efforts of regional and international partners, especially Sudan’s neighboring countries, the parties to the Jeddah talks, the United Nations, and the African Union. The League of Arab States, and the IGAD Organization.
The Ministry looks forward to the active participation of all Sudanese civil political forces, relevant regional and international partners, and joined efforts to ensure the success of the conference in achieving the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people.”
