An Agreement to Establish Free Zone in Blue Nile

The Blue Nile Government, in cooperation with the Sudanese Company for Free Zones and Free Markets, intends to establish (the Blue Nile Free Zone)
At the same time, the Governor of the Blue Nile Region, Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, announced his government’s keenness to support cooperation and provide appropriate conditions to enable all investors to implement their various investment projects.
Pointing to the importance of the geographical spread of the Sudanese Free Zones and Free Markets Company in order to enhance the implementation of economic and development projects at the level of the various governorates of the region, He called during his address for the signing ceremony of two memorandums of understanding between the Blue Nile Government and the Sudanese Free Zones and Free Markets Company in implementing investment and commercial projects in the region, calling on the Region’s Investment and Industry Authority to take immediate action and work to implement the two memorandums of understanding and implement them on the ground, directing the relevant authorities to the necessity of working to harness the available capabilities for the success of
the Sudanese Company’s projects for free zones and Free markets in the region.
Strategic location:
For his part, the Managing Director of the Sudanese Free Zones and Duty Free Company, Omar Mohammad Sheikh El-Din Ali, stressed the importance of the company entering the Blue Nile region and providing its services to the people of the region who have suffered a number of scourges of war, destruction and displacement for years.
Pointing out the strategic and geographical location of the Blue Nile region and benefiting from the preferential features that the region abounds in, especially its forest, animal, agricultural and mineral resources, which makes it an attractive region for investors at home and abroad,
Reducing suffering:
Sheikh El-Din said that the strategy of free markets is based on serving citizens and alleviating their suffering, by providing food, stuffs, electrical equipment and office supplies, in addition to supporting the development process and enhancing stability, stressing that the establishment of the Blue Nile Free Zone will work to support the progress of the economy locally, nationally and regionally. He stressed that the company will spare no effort in carrying out its national responsibilities in the reconstruction and rehabilitation program of areas affected by the war.
Economic gains:
While the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in the Blue Nile Region, Jamal Ahmed Saleh Osman, pointed to the benefits resulting from the existence of a free zone for the citizens of the region in general and state workers in particular, especially in terms of supporting the local and national economy, noting the strategic location of the region as the country’s border gate with the two neighboring countries, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
For his part, the Director General of the Sudanese Duty Free Zones and Duty Free Company, Hamdan Khalifa Mukhtar, affirmed the company’s commitment to implementing the two memorandums of understanding in support of the establishment of a duty free zone in the region and the opening of duty free outlets at the regional level, in addition to implementing the state workers’ basket project.
Investment support:
The Director General of the Investment and Industry Authority in the Blue Nile Region, Khadija Ahmed Ali, considered the free zone project in the region a good opportunity to support investment and benefit from the capabilities available in the region, in addition to supporting and promoting the economy at the local and national levels.
It should be noted that the two memorandums of understanding included an agreement to establish duty-free halls in Damazin, in addition to an agreement to provide petroleum products and their various derivatives, open outlets for duty-free markets, and implement the workers’ basket project in the region. The area allocated to the free zone on land with an area of ​​2 square kilometers of the original land was received. It is four and a half square kilometers
