Completion of paving works at Kenana Civil Airport

The acting governor of the White Nile, Omar Al-Khalifa, directed the competent authorities to expedite the procedures for registering Kenana Airport in preparation for completing the file and submitting it to the Civil Aviation Authority CAA so that it can be approved as a civil airport.
While the Kenana Airport administration announced the completion of all navigation and paving works for the airport’s main runway, in addition to the completion of lighting works.
The airport director, Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmad Al-Badri, said that the procedures for registering Kenana Airport as a civil airport are proceeding well with the White Nile government authorities.
He said in limited press statements that Kenana Airport has all the features that qualify it to be an international airport, noting that the airport has a runway three kilometers long and 45 kilometers wide, and has distinctive lighting in addition to advanced navigation devices. Al-Badri noted that an agreement was reached with the White Nile government to build an asphalt road from inside the airport in Kenana to the city of Rabak to serve the movement of citizens and goods entering and leaving the airport, affirming that work on building the free village within the airport grounds next to a village for housing employees will begin soon.
The Director of Kenana Airport appreciated the efforts made by the White Nile Government to expedite the procedures, pointing out that the airport achieves great economic benefits for the state in stimulating the economy as it will be a specialized airport in serving the movement of exports of meat, vegetables, fruits and cash crops. He added that the Sudan Airports Holding Company and the Civil Aviation Authority are following the progress of work at Kenana Airport with great interest.
