WHO: (15) Million Sudanese Need Life-Saving Health Care

Sudan Events – Agencies

The World Health Organisation WHO affiliated with the United Nations UN said on Tuesday that nearly 15 million Sudanese need urgent and life-saving health care.
The World Health Organisation WHO said in a statement that “estimates indicate that nearly 15 million people need urgent and life-saving health care services in Sudan.”
It indicated that its partners in the health cluster aim to reach 4.9 million people, as doing so requires funding of which only 26% has been covered.
The organisation affirmed that the conflict has severely damaged the health system in the country, as millions lacked health care, which has exacerbated the already fragile health status of many vulnerable people.
It reported that challenges in accessing health facilities, interruption of immunization services, and worsening food insecurity have combined in recent months, increasing the risk of infectious disease outbreaks in many hard-to-reach areas such as Darfur and Kordofan.
