Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi

Economic expert Dr. Haitham Mohamed Fathy called on the new government that will be formed in the coming period to find new and innovative economic solutions and alleviate the suffering of the citizen.
He said in his interview with “Sudan Events ” that the policies required from the new government in the coming period are to alleviate the suffering of the citizen, improve the standard of living, and confront economic challenges with new and innovative solutions that lead to results that improve the standard of living of the citizen, particularly those displaced from war states to safe states.
He added, “We need to stand on the problems we suffer from in light of an extremely difficult economic phase. The crisis we are experiencing is not a product of the moment and is not only due to external circumstances, but there are extremely dangerous internal complications that led us to the rebellion of the Rapid Support RSF Militia and the continuation of battles for a year and a half,” referring to the problem of rising prices and their uncontrollability and the citizen’s inability to keep up with this rise.
He affirmed the need to deliver humanitarian aid urgently, particularly since more than half of the country’s population suffers from food shortages and the lack of electricity, water, health and education services.
Haitham pointed out that Sudan has gone through many challenges during the past five years, the most important of which are the lack of security, stability and peace, and successive crises in many services, and the scarcity of foreign currency. The state was able to overcome many obstacles, but at a high cost.
He said, “Therefore, the new government faces challenges related to the dreams of the common citizen to live in stability and security, and to find goods and services at prices within his income, and to have electricity, water and food available, and for the citizen to find suitable work that matches his skills and efficiency, with the necessity of addressing the problem of refugees and displaced persons, which has become the first and greatest concern, and to restore what was destroyed by the war and reduce the budget deficit.”
He affirmed that Sudan has huge resources that require great work, extraction and investment, and require a lot of material and technical capabilities necessary to plan the reconstruction process, particularly since the Sudanese economy is a diversified economy that has a lot of important production capabilities and capacities that can be an important commodity in the target markets.
