Sudan Events – Agencies

Khartoum Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza revealed that the state authorities have given foreigners who reside illegally a deadline to leave the state to their countries after thousands of them were involved in fighting alongside the Rapid Support RSF Militia against the SAF.
Hamza said, according to (Al Jazeera Net) , that there were no camps for foreigners in Khartoum before the war, but rather points to receive and register refugees before transferring them to camps in the states approved by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR.
He explained that after the war, foreigners residing in Khartoum spread out in residential areas, and some of them were involved in fighting alongside the Rapid Support RSF Militia and became a threat to security and stability, noting that they number in the tens of thousands.
The governor of Khartoum stated that the majority of foreigners who remained in his state after the war were residing illegally, and the state authorities have begun counting them through refugee registration points in preparation for transferring them to refugee camps in other states where the camps are located.
He stated that the state authorities held consultations with the Sovereignty Council TSC ,the Ministry of Interior and the Refugee Commission, and a workshop was held in Port Sudan that approved measures to control foreign presence.
He added that his government formed a working group that approved registering refugees at specific points, regularizing the status of those who want to reside in the state legally, and deporting others to their countries after arresting them, particularly since most of them entered the country illegally across the borders with neighboring countries.
Hamza said that 60% of Khartoum’s residents left after the war, either voluntarily to avoid the dangers of fighting or by force after the “Rapid Support RSF Militia” forced them to leave their homes, and those who refused to leave “were killed and buried in their homes”, while others had their bodies left in the open for dogs to devour.
The governor of Khartoum indicated that the majority of the state’s remaining residents are in Karari locality north of Omdurman and the northern and eastern countryside of the state, where life is going on normally.
He accused the Rapid Support Forces RSF of systematically destroying the infrastructure, obliterating the historical features of the capital, including museums, monuments, and the National Archives, and burning land records so that citizens lose their rights and proof of ownership of their homes.
Regarding the situation of schools, Hamza said that the Rapid Support Forces RSF have turned schools into military barracks and camps for their forces, and other schools have been turned into centers for sheltering displaced persons IDPs and cemeteries for burying the bodies of the dead, as citizens were forced due to the bombing and military clashes to bury the bodies of their dead in schools, football fields, and public squares in the middle of neighborhoods.
He explained that the security situation has improved in some areas of the state thanks to the armed forces expelling the “Rapid Support Forces RSF from several locations and expanding the security circle, and citizens have begun to return to their homes, and communications networks, water and electricity services have returned, and banks have opened branches in Omdurman, and the police and prosecution have resumed their activities, affirming that life will return to the main Omdurman market soon.
The governor of Khartoum revealed that the citizens of his state were severely damaged by the looting of their money, savings, homes and cars by the “Rapid Support RSF Militia”, and that the “militia” is selling these properties in the areas under its control.
He explained that the authorities were able to recover thousands of electrical appliances and furniture, and are keeping them in warehouses until their owners come.
Hamza stated that the “Rapid Support RSF Militia” stormed prisons in the first days of the war, and released thousands of prison inmates, including about 3,000 hardened criminals who returned to practicing crime, robbery and armed robbery, so the army formed 8 military courts to eliminate the encroachment on citizens’ property and looting at gunpoint.
Regarding the situation of hospitals, the governor stated that the “Rapid Support RSF Militia” had turned some hospitals into centers for treating their wounded, where some medical personnel work under duress at gunpoint, accusing them of looting equipment and devices from most hospitals and selling them in Chad, South Sudan, the Central African Republic ( CAR) ,Niger and Mali for hundreds of millions of dollars.
