Beginning of Maintenance works to face the Autumn Effects

Roads, Bridges and Water Drainage Authority in Khartoum state announced the beginning of maintenance and rehabilitation work on the Western Nile Road (maintenance with hot and cold asphalt mix) and shoulder work for the silk markets, Aslanj, Badoba and Al-Sarurab, revealing the rehabilitation and maintenance of the White Valley and Umm Kuti slides.
Director General of the Authority, Eng. Mukhtar Omar Saber, said that work has started from the Military College to the village of Al-Taseen and the work will move north to Umm Kuti.
He added that whenever the financial conditions improve, work will continue on the road again.
He explained that maintaining the road along a length of 56 km in a complete and good manner requires 30,000 tons in length and proportion to the current conditions.
We are trying as much as possible to prevent the deterioration of the road.
He announced the start of the second maintenance phase after twenty days, while other phases will follow.
He said that we worked on maintaining all the valleys and slides that were affected during the past year. We only have two valleys left, and an agreement was reached with the National Authority to undertake their maintenance. He revealed that a committee of the Authority’s engineers was formed after the Autumn Emergency Committee visited some dams that were not maintained last year, and we submitted reports on them to the technical management to decide on the matter.
