Reece James: Enzo Fernandez crisis will affect Chelsea

Sudan Events – Agencies

Chelsea player Reece James confirmed that the storm of racism surrounding his teammate Enzo Fernandez could represent a problem inside the locker room.
It is worth noting that Fernandez and his teammates in the Argentine national team caused a great deal of controversy during their celebrations of winning the Copa America, after they were filmed singing an offensive song directed at a number of French players.
While Fernandez apologized, his Chelsea teammate Wesley Fofana, the French international player, criticized him. “The video showed absolute racism.” Wesley Fofana said. The club is currently conducting an internal investigation into Fernandez, who intends to join his Chelsea teammates next Monday, as the team continues its preparations for the new season in the United States of America.
“Of course, there is always a factor that makes people feel uncomfortable when there is a problem.” James said when asked if this problem will affect the team spirit at the club.
“But when the day comes when everyone is in the same room together, hopefully things can be sorted out simply and we can move forward with the season,” He added. “I spoke to him a little bit, but it was difficult because of the time difference. It was a general conversation. His opinion on what happened and trying to explain the situation and how it happened is a difficult situation. There is no place for racism or discrimination in football. I think he quickly gave up, explained what he did wrong and apologised to his team-mates, the club and everyone else who felt offended. I think that’s probably the best thing he could have done in that situation.” James said on chat with Fernandes.
