The South Kordofan government announced strict measures on random mining, mercury and cyanide use in mining activity and its replacement with modern methods to avoid safe waste and mining.
The first meeting of the Mining Coordination Council discussed several important issues related to the mines and the possibility of returning companies and practicing their mining activity, which stopped as a result of the war and some civil problems.
The Governor of South Kordofan, Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Karim, affirmed the government’s readiness to overcome obstacles and to provide all procedures, facilities and provisions for coordination between communities and security services, as well as joint coordination between the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company ( SMRC)and the relevant authorities, noting that the government the state is in the process of developing a study to establish a stock exchange in one of the eastern mining localities to reduce the danger of smuggling and preserve the merchants and not to be subjected to any harassment on the road.
He appealed to companies to return to their activity and adhere to social responsibility, adding that the social responsibility money is provided in the field of basic services to the citizen and with a scientific methodology, calling on the civil administrations in the mining areas to cooperate with the security services and the Sudanese company for mineral resources.
For his part, the director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company (SMRC) in the state, Warsha Naser Warsha, explained that the meeting discussed the performance report presented by the Sudanese company on the revenue position and the company’s position in dealing with mining waste, as well as environmental safety and environmental deviations and how to contain them, as well as combating them. Smuggling.
Warsha said that the meeting concluded with the necessity of establishing coordination between the security services at the state level, localities and various units to control the tax smuggling process for the public interest.
