Obligation of Irrigation Companies to Allocate 10% of their Area to Corn Cultivation

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Omar Al-Bishri, issued a decision (Sunday) obligating modern irrigation companies to allocate 10% of their area to corn cultivation and food crop cultivation and expand corn cultivation in irrigated projects and private farms.

He directed the Ministries of Production and Economic Resources to provide seeds for these aforementioned areas according to the direction of the Federal Ministry, due to the exceptional season that the country is going through and the encroachment of the Rapid Support RSF Militia on a number of production areas, Gezira , Sennar and the threat of the season in the states of the White Nile, Northern and River Nile and preventing the passage of inputs to the state. Al-Bishri promised to fill the food gap from food crops and avoid any famine.
