Egypt: We Continue to Support Sudan and Non-Interference in Its Internal Affairs

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

The spokesperson and Director of Public Diplomacy at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that the Egyptian Foreign Minister was keen to convey the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, affirming Egypt’s continued supportive role for Sudan, its institutions, and the unity and safety of its territories, while maintaining non-interference in its internal affairs. Abdel Aty also emphasized Egypt’s keenness to respond to any humanitarian and relief needs from Sudan.

The meeting discussed efforts aimed at bringing peace and stability to the brotherly country of Sudan. The Egyptian Foreign Minister confirmed that Egypt would continue its role in helping Sudanese brothers overcome the current crisis while preserving Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and supporting its state institutions and the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

In turn, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan expressed his greetings and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and acknowledged the leadership role he plays in supporting Sudan and its national institutions and caring for Sudanese on Egyptian soil. He also expressed his gratitude to the brotherly Egyptian people for providing care, support, and protection to their Sudanese brothers on their land.
