Resumption of Operations at the New Drinking Water Station in Kosti

Sudan Events – Reports

The Acting Director-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development in White Nile State, Al-Tayeb Mohammed Al-Hassan, announced the resumption of operations at the new drinking water station (JICA) in Kosti after a stoppage of more than a week due to the depletion of water purification solution (PAC). The minister stated, according to the Sudan News Agency, that the Drinking Water Administration obtained a sufficient quantity of PAC from the White Nile Sugar Company to last several days, and additional quantities have been shipped from UNICEF, expected to arrive in the coming days.

The minister emphasized the ministry’s interest in providing water supplies and ensuring clean and safe drinking water. It is worth mentioning that the new drinking water station in Kosti was inaugurated at the beginning of 2023 as a grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The station produces 33,000 cubic meters of water using high-quality technology and primarily relies on PAC and chlorine for water purification.
