UN Experts Concerned About Rape Crimes in Sudan War

Sudan Events – Agencies
UN experts expressed concern over documented cases of “sexual assault and rape – including gang rape – forced prostitution, sexual slavery, abduction, and unlawful killing by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).”
On Friday, the UN experts warned, according to “Al-Tareeq Sudan,” of the lack of adequate care for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in Sudan, including sexual and reproductive health care and psychosocial support, in addition to the targeting of human rights defenders and first responders who document violations and provide services to survivors. They noted that these violations are occurring amid catastrophic levels of the humanitarian crisis within Sudan.
They called for immediate support for survivors of gender-based violence and an end to the targeting of first responders and human rights defenders. The experts urged all parties to the conflict in Sudan to cease attacks against first responders and human rights defenders immediately.
