Indian Foreign Minister to “Asharq Al-Awsat”: We Are in a Difficult Phase with China

   Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that his country follows a “multidimensional foreign policy, which includes dealing with all major powers.” In an interview with “Asharq Al-Awsat” after participating in the joint ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council and India, held in Riyadh, he mentioned that India’s relations with China “are going through a difficult phase due to the border situation,” while Russia “is an old partner, and our economic cooperation with it is steadily expanding.” He added that India’s relations with the United States “have surpassed the hesitations of history, and we have established a strong strategic partnership.” Jaishankar emphasized that India’s relations with Saudi Arabia “are strong and resilient, as we move towards deepening bilateral cooperation in defense, energy, and technology.” He also noted that India’s relations with Gulf countries are deeply rooted in a rich fabric of history, culture, and shared values, extending for centuries.
