Foreign Ministry accuses RSF of liquidating Prisoners from the SAF

Sudan Events – Talal Ismail

Sudan’s Foreign Ministry accused the dissolved Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of liquidating prisoners of war.

Sudanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement seen by Sudan Event: “While Jeddah talks continue to discuss the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration on humanitarian issues, the achievement of a humanitarian ceasefire, confidence-building measures, at this time, the rebel militia published video clips of its liquidation of a number of prisoners of the armed forces, with a comment by one of its members that they do not know anything called prisoners.”

“This represents a full-fledged war crime, committed with premeditation. The publication of clips and comments boasting of the killing of unarmed people also embodies the prevailing culture among the elements and mercenaries of the rebel militia, which does not have the slightest regard for the sanctity of the human soul and ignores the fact that all laws and laws prohibit the killing of prisoners.

Sudanese Foreign Ministry pointed out that the attacks of the rebel militia continue on safe residential areas in the capital and elsewhere through indiscriminate shelling that kills innocent civilians daily, in addition to continuing to deliberately sabotage humanitarian facilities and strategic economic facilities, such as what happened to Nyala Teaching Hospital and the Balila oil field, this week.

“The crimes of the militia reflect not only their defiance of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention, but also disregard for the Jeddah talks and all efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians and facilitate the provision of necessary humanitarian services.

All of this presents the facilitators and the international community with a real challenge to commit the militia to the requirements of the Jeddah Declaration, to implement the possible ceasefire and confidence-building measures, and to fight impunity, given the crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by the rebel militia.
