Official: We Don’t Know the Fate of Trapped Women, and We Expect Worse After the War Ends

Sudan Events – Agencies
Salma Ishaq, the head of the Unit for Combating Violence Against Women, said that there is information the unit cannot disclose, as it could endanger people’s lives in specific areas.
Ishaq explained that the lack of communication and healthcare systems has led to a shortage of information about women in certain areas affected by the conflict.
She added, “Some areas are completely inaccessible, so we don’t receive information about the people or the violations they have suffered. Service providers are also not present in these areas to help report the situation.”
Ishaq expressed concern, noting that even more terrible events might emerge after the war, saying, “As the fighting intensifies, many lose their lives, services become impossible to provide, and burdens on the people are expected to increase.”
She added that the intensity of the clashes does not significantly impact the civilians, as they are already living in a dire situation.
