Economic Expert: Prices of Goods Rise by 600%

Economic expert Dr. Haitham Fathi warned of the total collapse of Sudan’s economy, which would exacerbate the living conditions of internally displaced citizens. He highlighted the sharp rise in foreign currency rates and its impact on purchasing power, especially for low-income groups, resulting in inflation and stagnation in several sectors. Essential goods, such as lentils and rice, have seen price increases of 400 to 600%. He also stressed the need for establishing a new gold refinery in secure areas to enhance the value of domestically produced gold, reducing reliance on exporting raw gold to be refined abroad.
