Sudan Events – Monitoring
The United Nations condemned the RSF’s heinous crimes in East Al-Jazeera State, demanding an end to them.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, stated in a release, “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the repeated human rights violations such as rape, targeted attacks, sexual violence, and mass killings in Al-Jazeera. These are horrific crimes.”
Initial reports indicate that the RSF launched a major assault on East Al-Jazeera between October 20 and October 25. According to the reports, RSF fighters fired on civilians, committed acts of sexual violence against women and girls, looted markets and homes on a wide scale, and burned farms.
