On Sunday, the army imposed a complete siege on Sennar, the capital of Sennar State in southeast Sudan, after gaining control of nearby areas and villages. Military sources told “Sudan Tribune” that “army forces, moving from Sennar city, have taken control of the villages of Al-Nuraniya, Al-Marfa, Taiba Al-Luhwein, Khalil Al-Mahatta, and Al-Amara, and are now advancing towards Um Shouk.”
They added that army forces moving from Al-Dandar have taken control of the villages of Wad Al-Rif, Wad Al-Aish, and the bridge leading to Sennar from the east. Sources stated that the army has tightened its grip on Sennar. The advance on Sennar occurred after ground battles involving heavy weapons.
Eyewitnesses told “Sudan Tribune” that army aircraft targeted RSF units advancing from Abu Hajar to break the siege on Sennar. The air force increased flights over Sennar State to provide air cover for advancing ground troops from various directions and prevent any RSF military reinforcements.
