On Monday, Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held joint talks at the Cairo International Conference Center on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum.
The discussions addressed ways to enhance, support, and develop relations that serve the interests of both nations and areas of mutual cooperation, as well as other shared concerns.
Al-Burhan briefed President Al-Sisi on the latest developments in Sudan in the wake of the Rapid Support Forces militia rebellion against the state and its institutions.
He expressed his gratitude to President Al-Sisi for the invitation to participate in the forum and commended the hospitality and warm welcome. He praised the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and the Egyptian support for safeguarding Sudan’s peace, security, and stability. He also expressed Sudan’s appreciation for Egypt’s active role in the region under President Al-Sisi’s leadership.
Al-Burhan further thanked the Egyptian people for receiving Sudanese nationals and offering them assistance. He also expressed gratitude to President Al-Sisi for his directives and attention to the issues faced by Sudanese residents in Egypt.
In response, President Al-Sisi thanked General Al-Burhan for accepting the invitation and reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Sudanese people in their pursuit of security, stability, and unity. He also highlighted the profound ties between the two nations on both official and popular levels, emphasizing Egypt’s pride in the close bonds with Sudan. President Al-Sisi committed to addressing the issues faced by Sudanese citizens in Egypt, especially Sudanese students, instructing relevant authorities to ease procedures for them.
The Sudanese side was represented in the meeting by the Minister of Urban Planning, Ahmed Fadl, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, Director of the General Intelligence Service Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mofadel, and Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Lieutenant General Imad Al-Din Adawi.
