Gabriel Urges Expedited Regional Financing Procedures Worth Around $100 Million

Finance Minister Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim emphasized the importance of speeding up the implementation procedures for financing allocated from the African Development Bank Group’s Development Fund, amounting to $100 million. This funding is intended to support the inputs for production and agricultural operations for the upcoming winter season to ensure its success. During a meeting with the World Food Program (WFP) resident representative in Sudan on Monday, the minister highlighted the significance of this financing, implemented by WFP as a third party, to bolster government efforts in providing the agricultural inputs required for the winter season’s success. The amount has been approved to fund the second phase of the wheat production project aimed at ensuring food security in Sudan. The meeting, attended by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra and Planning Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Bashar, discussed the season’s needs in terms of seeds, improved grains, fertilizers, and other production inputs, outlining their quantities and exploring financing methods to prepare for the winter season.
