Heavy Clashes in El Fasher

On Sunday, clashes resumed between the army and its allied armed movements against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Meanwhile, the RSF continued its raids on villages in the Kutum locality, committing widespread violations against civilians.
Eyewitnesses told “Sudan Tribune” that the city of El Fasher witnessed artillery shelling between the army and the RSF from early morning hours, followed by direct confrontations between the two sides in the southeastern part of the city, using all types of weapons.
A fighter jet belonging to the army carried out a series of intensive airstrikes targeting RSF positions in the eastern part, with loud explosions heard and columns of smoke rising.
The RSF shelling on the northern and western neighborhoods and around the El Fasher airport resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of many homes.
A statement issued by the leadership of the 6th Infantry Division in North Darfur confirmed that its forces had made progress in the southeastern axis, seized several RSF positions, and inflicted heavy losses in terms of casualties.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, at least four people were killed and dozens injured in a new attack carried out by the RSF and its allied militias on several villages in the Kutum locality in North Darfur.
