Foreign Ministry: The British Draft Resolution Is a Trap and Will Drag the Country into International Trusteeship

Sudan Events – Agencies
The Acting Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, confirmed that the British draft resolution in the UN Security Council has positive aspects, but it is a trap.
According to the “Al-Muhaqiq” news website, Al-Amin stated that the draft resolution talks about civilian protection, which is a positive thing. However, it will lead to the deployment of foreign forces in the country. He questioned who is responsible for protecting civilians in Sudan, adding, “The aggressor must be named and condemned, and the government, which is obligated to protect civilians, must be supported.” He also pointed out that the Russians fully understand the British role in the Security Council regarding Sudan, noting that Britain had previously adopted a resolution extending the fact-finding mission in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. “We do not expect anything positive from them regarding Sudan,” he added. Al-Amin emphasized that the British draft resolution aims to drag the country into international trusteeship and UN peacekeeping forces, calling for the implementation of the outcomes of the Jeddah Agreement, stressing that this is the way to resolve the Sudanese crisis.
