“Mineral Resources” Presents Comprehensive Vision for Gold Mining Development

The Sudanese Mineral Resources Limited Company has outlined the future of the mining sector in the River Nile State, presenting its comprehensive vision to the state government and local communities. During a joint meeting held on Wednesday in Port Sudan, attended by the Governor of River Nile State, the Minister of Finance, executive directors of mining localities, the Director of Mining Security Police, the Director of Mineral Economics Security, and representatives from local communities and miners, the company identified challenges and proposed effective solutions.
Governor Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the shared responsibility between the government and local communities to stabilize mining operations, protect the environment, boost production, and increase revenues. He praised the company’s vision, stating that it accurately diagnosed problems and offered appropriate remedies, describing the meeting as a decisive step towards resolving mining-related issues in the state.
The Director-General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omar, highlighted the importance of involving all relevant parties in the development of the mining sector nationwide. He announced that the company’s vision would be implemented across all mining-producing states to achieve mutual goals and support the national economy during the current economic crisis. Omar also pledged to address all environmental impacts of mining in collaboration with the state government, local communities, and mining sector workers. He extended gratitude to the state government, its executive bodies, and local communities for attending the meeting in Port Sudan and participating in crafting a strategic vision for advancing the sector and preserving national resources.
State Minister of Finance and Workforce Amira Ahmed Hassan stressed that mining is the primary revenue source for the state. She highlighted the significant service projects executed for local communities under the mining sector’s social responsibility initiatives. The minister emphasized the importance of environmental and safety concerns and praised the company’s initiative, noting that its vision pinpointed problems and proposed solutions.
Miners and local community representatives reaffirmed their support for state leadership during these challenging times, recognizing the company’s vision as a safe and sustainable approach to mitigate mining’s environmental impacts and safeguard the country’s resources.
The meeting concluded with the formation of joint committees tasked with studying and implementing the proposed vision.
