Sudan’s Ambassador to Belgium and Head of the Sudanese Mission to the European Union, Abdelbagi Hamdan Kabeer, revealed that the European Union’s Special Representative, Anita Weber, is expected to visit Port Sudan in early December as part of a regional tour to several countries.
Kabeer said, according to the “Al-Muhaqiq” news site, that Weber will meet with several officials to discuss various issues related to the ongoing war and its political and humanitarian implications.
The Sudanese ambassador to the EU emphasized the importance of the European envoy getting firsthand facts by meeting with all parties and listening to them. At the same time, he criticized the EU’s stance on the Sudanese crisis and urged it to play a more active role by pressuring the countries that support the RSF militia in its war against the Sudanese people.
Kabeer confirmed that the war Sudan is currently fighting is the result of a large international and regional conspiracy, noting that the UAE’s support for the militia with weapons and logistical support is well-documented, which has contributed to prolonging the war. He attributed the UAE’s actions towards Sudan to its ambitions to seize strategic locations through dominance over the Red Sea coastline and the acquisition of the country’s natural resources.
Kabeer stressed that the militia has committed crimes and atrocities against the Sudanese people that violate international norms and laws, reaching the level of war crimes.
