Major General Abu Aqla Kiakel, leader of Sudan Shield Forces and a defector from the Rapid Support Forces, pledged to General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Sovereign Council and commander-in-chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, that they would soon take over the First Division in Madani and defeat the “final enemy” in Sudan.
In a video recorded during a celebration of the liberation of Sennar, Kiakel declared his forces fully prepared to liberate the First Division. He denied any affiliation between the Sudan Shield Forces and specific tribes or political parties, adding, “God has tasked us with erasing the RSF.”
