Gasperini suspended for two matches for insulting referee

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been suspended for two matches following repeated insults directed at the fourth official during his team’s win over Parma, as announced by the Serie A League on Tuesday.

According to AFP, the league issued a statement confirming that Gasperini was punished for “repeatedly insulting fourth official Luca Massimi after being sent off in the 55th minute of their match at the Ennio Tardini Stadium on Saturday.”

Atalanta won 3-1 against Parma in Round 13, achieving their seventh consecutive victory in Serie A, during which they defeated Napoli 3-0 away.

Gasperini will miss Atalanta’s next two home matches, one against Roma and another against Milan in Bergamo.

Atalanta is having an excellent season, currently sitting second with 28 points, tied with Inter, Fiorentina, and Lazio, just one point behind leaders Napoli.
